L. Worl represented Carroll Volleyball in a positive manner Sunday afternoon down in Danville, Indiana, outside of Indianapolis. Lauren passed 2.2 in serve receive, had 8 digs, hit positive at .120 (8-5/25=.120), had 3 total blocks, and served eight times, with an ace, an error, and scored five points. She finished the afternoon with 11 total points. While Lauren was not the North All-Star MVP, I am confident in saying she most likely was considered for the award based on her all-around play.

Want to know why these kids are good at volleyball? High school players L. Worl, Madison Miller, and Grace Filbrun joined junior high players Jillian Herron, Paige Jones, and Jordan Ebert in the weight room doing just a couple minutes of cardio and then lifting and doing core work for the next hour. Planks, woodchoppers, curls, presses, pull-downs, crunches, extensions and good old pushups were all utilized.
And then when I think we are done, they are just getting started. L. Worl, Madison Miller, G. Filbrun, and P. Jones found some empty gym space and asked if we could get the volleyballs out. Jillian and Jordan wanted to stay, but I shoved them out the door as their rides were coming. Over the next half hour, we had the setters working on setting, I hit at Lauren and Madison, and then I hit at Paige and Grace while Madison and Lauren worked at getting their wrist to snap over the ball developing top spin. E. Eurit shows up and I needed to get home to shower to attend a dinner tonight. Man alive these kids work. What a great example to those who are thinking about what it means to invest in a program. We do not need a hundred kids playing volleyball, just 10 or so that work this hard. This is the final state rankings.
Is this the last time I get to brag on Libby? Sad thought. She finished her senior year ranked 5th in the state with 612 digs. Get use to this name a lot. H. Towne of Rochester is the best returning player we could face at #30. M. Sailors of Frontier is #40 with 478 digs. Serving is something Carroll kids dominated. Elizabeth was 36th, Grace was 38th, Lauren was 54th, and Megan was 109th in aces. Best returning player we could face is H. Towne at 44th with 81 aces. Best returning server we will face, H. Williams at Tri-Central at 157th with 58 aces. Assist finds Grace ranked 108th with 585 assists. Best returning setter we will face is R. Isgrigg a freshmen from Frankfort who was #75 with 690 assists. Covington's little freshmen setter returns with 567 assist. Lauren is our best hitter ranked at 97th in hitting percent and tied with Megan at 114th with 301 kills. Meghan Miller does not have enough attempts to be ranked. Potential sectional foe Fountain Central returns a middle hitter who is 5th in the state at .423 and 76th in kills at 343. H. Towne checks in at 60th hitting .303 and 16th in kills with 493! Best returning hitter on our regular season schedule is S. Rogers of Western who hit .237 good for 143rd and her 257 kills was 188th. |
