2.) Sorry girls. The practice seemed to lack a flow to it. Not sure why but that is on me.

As we were coming home from running the dune hill, Megan asked me about hosting the team for an overnight. I had no objections, so she announced the plans for an overnight and even bonfire.
Mia made time tonight. I love it. She finished that last 200 surrounded by teammates. I loved that, too.
The Dune Hill awaits! Back in the day, Kenny Rogers sang a song titled The Gambler. So what the heck does,
You've got to know when to hold 'em Know when to fold 'em. have to do with serving a volleyball. Well let me explain. I posted the words after the "read more" break in July of 2013. I realized a couple of days ago many of the things we spoke in the early days of the blog will be news to the underclassmen, especially the freshmen, and their parents. We will meet up with Big Claire next weekend. Who is this Big Claire? Claire is a former player, student, and great family friend. Decades ago, Big Claire asked how she could ever repay us (Gretchen, too) for everything we did. I clearly recall saying, "Invest in someone else the way we have in you." Little did I know that she would do exactly that - with my children. Both my two children, Jared and Claire, and my volleyball family.
I have looked forward to hearing from B. Worl more than any single graduate of Carroll volleyball due to the passing of time and her continued participation in the sport at the college level. It has been four years since Ms. Worl wore a Carroll volleyball uniform. Bailey might be the only individual I know that closed a college or university. She attended and played three years at St. Joseph University in Rensselaer, Indiana. Then, during her junior year, the college announced it was closing! She will finish her senior year at Indiana University - Kokomo where she will use her final year of eligibility and play at IU-K, has one semester of classes left and then will be student teaching. Bailey has stayed connected to Carroll Volleyball both through her sister and by returning to coach in club for us.
What a crazy 48 hours thanks to 6.17" of rain (in my gauge). We left an hour late while trying to find a way to travel north safely, seeing what the water might do that was flooding the Herr's driveway, and wanting to confirm The Dunes would still want us if we arrived late. In the end, it was well worth the effort. Competition was not as strong as past years; however, it fit us well.
We started the day off minus M. Herr due to the Tolan Ditch filling her driveway and M. McMains due to the Clinton Co. fair and showing goats. P. Jones filled out a new rotation sheet as I was driving and reciting the rotation to her. We fulfilled all of our competition requirements, but at the cost of one of our big rest breaks. The girls did great. We served well, struggled in receive a bit, and both left side hitters played at a very high level. We were playing .500 ball when Makayla and Megan arrived (thank goodness as we started to wear down with only 8 kids). We continued to play .500 ball after their arrival as we split two matches in the back annex. |
