Herr: Hit 46-14/120= .266 Nine aces/one error 50 digs aced 18.5% passed 93/54= 1.72 There are a handful of photos following the Read More break. WOW! That was close. And fun? You are correct Mrs. Herr. I did not find that fun. :) I have been on edge since Tuesday night when I saw Rossville's scores and numbers of their Frankfort match. Heck, I have been worried about this match since last year. We are just so young and having to play a conference match so soon on the schedule. Then my angst increases with the Rossville girls coming to Carroll. Then a new coach with a much better volleyball background. No, I was too edgy to have fun. Not my best night of coaching. Some observations after watching film and doing numbers.
Final stats have been posted to maxpreps.com. The most important number I keep that is not available at maxpreps is our receive passing grade. M. Herr passed 12/6= 2.0 against Caston. S. Fisher passed 13/10= 1.30. G. Filbrun passed 21/12= 1.75. M. Moore passed 3/3= 1.0. M. VIney passed 2/1= 2.0.
Couple of things that I see on film that we need to clean up. It was not a bad day at all. Nice for the freshmen to break in with an easy day. The weather allowed the AC to keep up inside and the lines outside were long, but only for a handful of hours, and the ice cream was easy to scoop. Pixs follow the break.
WOW! That was a busy day. We even stayed open another hour. We did work. That is for sure. Thanks to Mr. Seward for his extra hose and some supplies. Thank you to the handful of mom's who pitched it over the last hour when we were trying to finish up. Thanks to S. Jones for helping all day. Lastly, thanks to anyone who came to the car wash and allowed us to clean your car. A big thanks to the girls. Until that last hour, they did a pretty good job. Things fell off a little bit as they got tired. I already waxed my car this evening. Pictures after the break.
We played well. Manchester is going to be pretty good behind their 5 seniors. Their #9 gave us some really problems. Our Opposites were getting tooled on a regular basis. Our serve, while not collecting many aces, was pretty efficient. We had them out of system a lot. Serve receive was a problem. Only G. Filbrun at 2.08 held up well. Freshmen mistakes were an issue. No surprise there. M. Moore had her best effort as a hitter - .450! Thanks to Mrs. Herr for dinner and snacks. Stats are after the read more break.
1.) We mourn with Lauran McClain over the passing of her mom. Tough at any age but especially as a young lady in high school.
1.) It was such a nice day, We deviated from the practice plan and went outside to run and hit the bleachers.
2.) 300/100/20!! We passed 300 consecutive balls without a miss. We served 100 consecutive balls without a miss. We hit 20 of 22 self tosses into the court during Puerto Rico drill. Girls get an "Atta Boy". It was not easy physically or mentally. We worked hard for those numbers but they are phenomenal when you think we are including 5 freshmen, a junior new to our program, and a sophomore who is stepping back into the sport. |
