Things were a little smoother then. Girls changed and took some pictures. We ran the 2/3's of a mile down to the dune hill. Three trips of the hill. It is not easy folks. Three minute recovery and one more run. Girls were spent. They had six minutes of recovery and headed back to Claire's cottage. A "Tip of the Cap" to E. Eurit. She does not like to run, but she ran stride for stride with S. Fisher, one of our best athletes on an athletic team. We let the girls recover their heart rate and did some sprints in the deep sand. Done!
Girls had the next hour or so to play on the paddleboard, just chill in the water, or lie on the beach. Dinner of hot dogs, hamburgers, chips & salsa, and a variety of salads and fruits was provided by Claire. We purchased a case of water on the way to the beach and a huge thanks to K. Worl and my wife for the cookies.
Another of my former students/players arrived who lives nearby in Ogden Dunes. I have not seen Mandy in years, had never met her husband, and got to hold Louie, as did M. Herr! It was great to catch up with another young lady who I am proud to have coached and had in class. I really enjoyed Mandy's brother Matt and was able to catch up on what he is doing. Great visit.
Asked the girls to get ready to leave by 8:00. S. Fisher yelled down I could come up and change at 8:01. We took some group pictures on a small deck above the beach and were on the road by 8:30 our time. Then, they needed Starbucks! Pulled in and the crew vanished. I thought they got lost. I cleaned a bunch of trash out of the bus and had time to sit and drink a bottle of water. Twenty minutes later they all appeared. Loaded back up and headed south.
We were able to get some hard work done and still had a good time at the outlet mall and just hanging on the beach. From my point-of-view, it was a good day.
