Makayla McMains
for playing well while others around her struggled and carrying us to the win. M. McMains was our MaxPreps Play of the Match. Makayla led us in serve receive at 1.85 (39/21), led us in hitting at .303 (12-2/33), led us in points with 17, led us in blocking with 5 total blocks, and even served better with a .636 to zone and a pair of aces (she is still serving too conservatively). Hitting .303 is amazing considering how poorly we passed for three sets.
Jilian Herron
By her second rotation to serve, I thought to myself, "I am taking my best server and turn her loose to her favorite zone regardless of who is passing there." Jil responded as she was .705 to zone (13-1/17), led us with 4 aces and we scored 9 points on her serve. The game continues to evolve and the serving specialist started to appear at the international level 10-15 years ago or so. We started to see it in the college game 5 years ago. At Carroll, we are using the same concept. Jil is beating people up on serve once again.

The Junior Varsity
for a fairly dominating straight set victory! Again, they served well with 11 aces (led by G. Ayres with 7 aces) and only 2 errors. Our passing held up with G. Ayres passing 2.33 (7/3) followed by D. Myers at 2.0 (4/2) and K. Ashby also at 2.0 (6/3). H. Bowman led us in hitting percent at .285 (2-0/7) as every single hitter was .100 or higher!
