"Growing up, we are taught about the Holocaust as most schools do. We are taught the basic facts such 6.7 million Jews died and more. Kristallnacht means "Night of the Broken Glass", and Jews were sent to concentration camps. Going to the museum made us dig deeper. It brought us into the past and allowed us to get a glimpse of what took place. We could never be close to experiencing what they did. But knowing what happened and why is important. The Chicago Holocaust Museum helped us connect to the past, and most importantly, learn from it. Listening to Mrs. Doris [daughter of a Holocaust survivor] speak was fascinating and one of my favorite parts about the trip."
I asked Madison to share her impression of our trip to Chicago to the Illinois Holocaust Museum.
